More than a place of learning, schools are anchors and reflections of the neighborhoods they serve. Today these stories are being lost and with them a pathway for developing a cultural and historical understanding of the origins of Washington, DC.
Our Vision is Simple
We celebrate the role of schools within the history of Washington, DC by facilitating a process of self-discovery for students and local communities with a focus on collaborating with schools who may otherwise not have the resources to do this work. By creating permanent, history-based exhibits that make community stories visible, we help cement belonging in today’s changing city.
