We are thrilled to partner with the talented students and faculty at Eliot-Hine Middle School (Ward 6)! With a modernization renovation underway, we are excited to help the students uncover and share the stories of their school’s past. Merged in 2008, Eliot Junior High School and Hine Junior High School are rich in history and reflect the changes of their surrounding neighborhood.

Beginning in October 2019, students will begin to explore their school’s namesake and the Capitol Hill community that was home to both schools. Our students will get the opportunity to participate in primary research, visit local historical institutions, interview long-time area residents and alumni, handle historic documents and photographs, and much more! Club participants will also get the chance to interact with museum experts and learn about new professions they may not have considered before.

With a tentative fall 2020 reveal, their permanent exhibit will be predominantly displayed in a renovated space and will be opened to the public shortly after their building reopens.
